Aurora goes voyeur In Downtown Morristown!

Uncategorized

Downtown Morristown. Some people would look at this district and think of how incredibly boring it must be to live in this town. The streets appear to be dead. No matter what time of day or year. A few small cafes and kitschy shops bring a splash of life and color to the landscape, but aside from that, nothing. No pubs, clubs, no dance hall or pool lounge. So of course, at around 5pm everyday, you can imagine how exciting it is.

The people during the day entertain me. They are doing exactly what I am.
Using one another as a means of entertainment.

It got me thinking-what if everyday for the next thirty days, I interview a random person in the town?
Ask them a few questions, get to know their story. How they feel about this quiet little city, and what do they do for a living? or for fun?

The point of this particular exercise was not to obtain the best photos-but to simply capture a stranger totally unaware.
I shot these photos from about 300 feet away, and achieved my objective well.
Not a single one ever turned around to face me, no one ever suspected a thing. Image

I wonder how they would react if they knew? Would they run after me, attempting to steal my memory card or smash my camera?
Would they be as interested in me as I am in them, and ask me what I am up to? Maybe they want a print.

Maybe they are just so busy in their own world, so pre-occupied with work, money, kids…the reason they do not notice me is simply because they just do not care.

Maybe someone is photographing me, and I am too busy to notice.

I will carry on with my new project tomorrow. It will take more guts to speak to them then it did to hide on a roof and capture them unaware. Wish me luck, and stay tuned!

      1. One of the amazing thing about blogging, be it photography or writing is that you put your best stuff out there because you are proud of it and sometimes people see what you see and other times they get excited about stuff that you almost over looked…… isn’t that interesting?
        Keep that good stuff coming.
